Greetings from the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism
I would like to extend my warmest greetings to the Egyptian communities of Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Calgary and congratulations to the organizers of the Egyptian Canadian Business Network (ECBN) for the publication of the very first Egyptian community business directory. On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the ECBN for their efforts in establishing this useful tool for the Egyptian community at large, but also for creating a network of professionals and businesses that will surely prove useful to new immigrants who arrive to begin their new lives in Canada.
I sincerely hope that members of ECBN take this opportunity to reflect on the positive role they continue to play in promoting strong ties between Canada and Egypt through business and networking activities. Your efforts help to promote the Canadian values of democracy, freedom, human rights and the rule of law, and serve to foster a stronger, healthier, and more vibrant community for everyone. By publishing a business directory and organizing networking events like the one held in November 2008, the ECBN helps to reinforce the concept of a pluralist Canadian society.
Canada is a wonderful success story, but it is contributions like these that help make that story even greater. These initiatives ensure that newcomers to Canada find themselves in a more welcoming environment. This, in turn, helps them find success.
Thank you again for your contributions and best wishes for continued prosperity.
The Honourable Jason Kenney, PC, MP
Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism
